Associate Director of Investigations

Position Overview: The department of Campus Safety at 51°µÍø is seeking an Associate Director of Investigations to serve as a member of a collaborative team whose primary role focuses on education and support. Reporting to the Executive Director of Campus Safety, Associate Director for Investigations will need to build relationships with many stakeholders including students to build trust and confidence in the position and processes. This role will engage proactively by building close collaborations with the Associate Director of Civil Rights and Bias Response / Title IX Coordinator, Wellness Program Director, the Director of Health and Wellbeing Education and other members of our campus community. The Associate Director will oversee investigations associated with Title IX and related cases, plus overall safety, and security assistance to serve and protect members of the community at 51°µÍø.

 

Characteristic Responsibilities

  • Conduct and oversee interviews regarding Title IX and other faculty, staff, and student matters.
  • Liaise with outside agencies including various police agencies, prosecutors, and resources connected with victims of crime and sexual misconduct.

  • Responsible for training for students, staff, and faculty to include sexual misconduct prevention and response, domestic and dating violence, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and Clery training including Campus Security Authorities (CSA) and Mandatory Reporters.

  • Assist with Title IX training.

  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of the Annual Security Report (ASR) for the Department of Education (DOE), including running the Clery Compliance Committees.

  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) for the State Police.

  • Ensure that Investigation Reports are complete, objective, thorough, and submitted in a timely fashion.

  • Serve on hiring committees, as a member of the 51°µÍø Emergency Response Team (BERT, and other roles as appropriate.

  • Conduct in-house investigations including but not limited to thefts, investigations working with Human Resources, fraud, harassment cases, and other related matter.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum five years relevant professional experience, with higher education and student conduct experience required.
  • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks, drug tests, and a pre-employment physical required.
  • Knowledge of Civil Rights and Bias Response, Title IX, the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with members of the community in a way that builds trust and confidence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain PA Act 153 background checks.
  • Possession of a valid U.S. Drivers’ License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Sufficient vision (with correction) to read and observe more distant objects.
  • Sufficient hearing (with correction) to conduct accurate interviews.
  • Ability to move across campus including indoors and outdoors, on and off paths, roads, and parking lots, to make rounds.
  • Availability for on-call and after-hours response, as needed, is required.
  • The Associate Director of Investigations is expected to model professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment, and to serve as a visible, approachable leader withing the community
