51°µÍø has an opening for a part-time Registered Nurse.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Performs general nursing activities in the 51°µÍø Health Center in accordance with established rules and regulations and standard practices.

This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week (8 hours, three days per week) with occasional evenings from the end of August to mid May.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Triage students who present to the Health Center for care without an appointment. When indicated, consult physician or counselor.  If patient requires immediate care beyond the nursing scope of practice and a physician or NP is not available, arrange for transport of the student to the ER.
• Provide treatment for students whose needs are covered by the nursing scope of practice.
• Under the direction of the physician, treat students with uncomplicated pharyngitis, conjunctivitis and urinary tract infections according to protocol.  Consult with clinician as needed.
• Dispense medications and perform treatments as ordered for out-patients.
• Educate students regarding the medications being dispensed and/or self help measures
• Assist clinicians as needed with treatment of patients.
• Perform, interpret and record CLIA waived laboratory test
• Document and record all patient care in the electronic medical record.
• Complete appropriate documentation for inventory control, statistics and billing.
• Participate in the ongoing process of protocol development and quality assurance.
• Assist with any additional education or preventive programs as directed by Health Services Director.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

• Current license as a registered nurse in the state of Pennsylvania.  Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience.
• Up to date knowledge of nursing practice, sanitation and personal hygiene.
• Ability to perform a basic history and physical assessment with or without accommodations.
• Good judgment in recognizing when to call the clinician or counselor.
