Graduate education at 51°µÍø was part of the founding mission of the College. Established in 1885, 51°µÍø takes pride in being the first women’s college in the U.S. to provide graduate education culminating in a Ph.D. Since 1931, graduate enrollment has been co-educational. Students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences pursue research in graduate programs of international reputation.
