The below message was sent to faculty, staff, students, and alumnae/i on June 1, 2025.
Dear 51°µÍø Community,
I write to you on the Sunday of Reunion to tell you about incidents of vandalism that occurred on campus overnight. They include graffiti on campus buildings and destruction of rental property. These acts came at the end of an enormously successful reunion weekend during which we welcomed more than 900 alumnae/i back to campus, reaffirmed our love and commitment to this place, and celebrated together all that we are at 51°µÍø.
We contacted the Lower Merion Township Police Department this morning, and they immediately opened an investigation. If a criminal offense is confirmed, those involved will face the full consequences of the law. The College concurrently launched an internal investigation, and any breach of college policies or the Honor Code will be addressed through appropriate disciplinary measures. Anyone with information about these incidents (including alumnae/i who were on campus for reunion) should contact Campus Safety at (610) 526-7911 or campussafety@brynmawr.edu. We take this incident seriously. As with all such acts against our community, we investigate carefully and with compassion and hold accountable those involved.
Nothing about these events diminishes the love and abundance our community shared this weekend and our continued focus – in the long and short terms – on our work together. I’m grateful to all of our staff in dining, facilities, conferences and events, housekeeping, alumnae/i relations and development, and our amazing alumnae/i volunteers who did so much to make this weekend a success.
As always,
Wendy
